Handmade wool carpets are remarkably resilient due to natural lanolin protective oils. Follow these four gold rules from our factory to keep your rug looking brand new:
1. **Suction-Only Vacuuming**: Use a canister vacuum with a floor brush attachment once a week. Avoid rotary beater bars which can fray delicate hand-spun wool fibers.
2. **Rotate Twice Annually**: Rotate your rug 180 degrees every six months to distribute foot traffic and sun exposure evenly.
3. **Instant Spill Protocol**: Blot (never rub!) spills immediately using clean white paper towels or microfiber cloths. For coffee or wine, blot with a mixture of lukewarm water, a drop of mild wool shampoo, and a teaspoon of white vinegar.
4. **Professional Wash Every 4-5 Years**: Trust only specialized rug cleaners who perform flat immersion hand washing rather than steam cleaning, which can damage natural backing fibers.
